I spoke too soon...

I guess I spoke too soon and jinxed myself.  I came home from running errands this afternoon to find little Sonic floating in the water in a contorted position.  Riga mortis had already set in.  Zane saw him and exclaimed, "Noooooo!!!!  Sonic!!!!!!!"  (Imagine that in slow motion.)

Enjoy these last pictures I took of our very first pets before they perished.

It was fun while it lasted, little buddies.

Tadpole Update

Remember those tadpoles we caught on Mother's Day?  Well, I seriously doubted whether they would survive 4 days, let alone 1 month.  Out of the seven, we had two tadpoles live long enough for us to witness their 'transformation'.  See those little legs sprouting on the one tadpole? (Photo taken May 26th)
After the legs came two little arms.  His tail became smaller and smaller until eventually it was a little 'nub' and we now have one little froggie for a pet!  His name is Sonic.
Tadpole #2 (Sanka) is getting ready to sprout legs any day now.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was very nice and relaxing this year.  Andy let me sleep in, which was 10x better than breakfast in bed.  Harrison surprised me with this card that he made at school:
          Makes cookies
Outstanding help game player of Mario
          Takes me to Gettisburg
          Helps me with tiing shoes
          Excellent mom
          Really good at soccer
I really loved this card, especially him recognizing my skilz at Super Mario World.  hahaha.
Because we have afternoon church this year, we decided to go on a morning walk at a nearby park to catch tadpoles.  Is there anything more boyish than that?  My boys loved it and I loved watching them have a blast.
This particular park has a 1-mile trail.  We hiked that together and climbed some rocks along the way.  The weather was a little bit chillier than we thought it would be, but Abric was nestled so snugly and warm in the baby sling.  (I seriously wish I would have had one of those with my other babies.  It is the most convenient and natural way to carry a baby around.)  And looking at that picture of my hair, I'm thinking it is finally time to cut it off.  With the humidity around here, I'm thinking my hair is looking a little Sasquatch-ish.
Here is Mrs. Frog, checking us out.
The boys caught 7 tadpoles all together.  We put them in a jar and are keeping our fingers crossed that they don't all die.  Surprisingly enough, the boys decided that two of these tadpoles are girls and their names are "Hannah" and "Miley".  Apparently my boys are closet Hannah Montana fans!
