The Waterfall

Just below Lewis Peak in North Ogden something amazing happens every April:  the Spring run-off causes a waterfall to flow down the mountain.  I remember hiking there as a child with my family.  I was on the phone with my mom yesterday and she told me that the waterfall had started to run.  I can't believe Andy and I just missed it by a couple days.
I know it doesn't look like much, but it will always be a part of my childhood memories.  I always loved seeing that waterfall in the Spring.  On some days, when the snow was melting particularly fast, we could even hear it from our house.  Anyway, I have been re-organizing my pictures and I happened to find this one and couldn't resist posting.

Flashback Photo Friday

Today is Doris Day's birthday. Is anyone else a fan? I have always loved her movies. They are just plain FUN to watch! Plus, they are clean! My friend Spring and I used to have 'Doris Day-a-thons' when we were in college. I used to watch them with my neighbor, Kristin. And, of course, I would watch them with my mom. She us the one who introduced them to me. I miss our chick-flick nights! I used to make my brothers watch her movies while we were growing up, and they secretly enjoyed them, too. There are some great one-liners from her movies that still make me laugh today. Some of my favorite movies are:

The Glass-Bottom Boat
Pillow Talk
Move Over, Darling
Send Me No Flowers
With Six You Get Eggroll
That Touch of Mink
The Thrill of It All

This post is random, but I just couldn't let it pass without acknowledging it. :)

Mother of the Year

So, I thought I would combine today's post with my Flashback Photo Friday.  Here is a picture of Harrison when he was almost 3 months old.  We were at Andy's grandparents' house for Christmas.  Look at that sweet and innocent boy.  He did cry alot, but he was fine when he was 8 months and started crawling.  I tried to be a good mom and do my best to help him.
When he was almost 3, he put his hand in the treadmill while I was running.  It was probably the most horrible day of my life.  I felt like the worst mother.  I never ran on that treadmill again and we sold it a couple months later.   He still has a scar on his hand and I want to cry every time I see it.
This past week, Harrison has had no bodily harm, but I have decided to award myself "Mother of the Year".  On Monday, he came home from school early with a 103 temperature.  I kept him home Tuesday because he still ran a fever until around noon.  Wednesday I had to keep him home from school because they have to be fever-free for 24 hours before they are allowed back in school.  Thursday he went to school the entire day.  The only problem there was that I forgot to go get him.   At 4:00PM the school secretary called to ask if I could come get him.  I was supposed to be there at 3:30PM.  I felt like the worst mother in the whole world!
When I picked him up, I apologized and apologized.  This is how our conversation went:

Me:  Harrison, sweetheart, I am so sorry!
Harrison:  I tried really hard not to cry, but I couldn't help it, so I started to cry.
Me:  (as my heart is breaking)  Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry.  I didn't mean to forget you!
Harrison:  I was thinking I could have my teacher help me walk home, but then I was thinking that the door would be locked.
Me:  (the other half of my heart is now broken)  Harrison, I am so sorry.

Now, today on Friday, I get another call from the school nurse.  He is running a 101 degree fever and had 'Rocky Mountain Quick-Step'.  The latter was due to the prunes I made him eat before school this morning.  He had a charley horse in his calf and prunes have a lot of potassium.  He doesn't like bananas very much.  Bad decision.

This Mother of the Year is now off to the doctor's for her son's appointment.

Christmas Past-1976

Ah, the Christmas of matching pajamas...

My dad's family all got together one Christmas and spent the night at my Aunt Vicki and Uncle John's new house.  My aunt Tammy made matching pj's for everyone.  (My, how the family has grown since then!  Grandma and Grandpa only had 4 grandkids. )
My mom and me...my first Christmas.
Grandpa carving the roast beast.
My grandma and me, wearing my snazzy red pj's.

Flashback Photo Friday

My grandpa has always had a special relationship with his chair.  He has a new recliner now, but I think he had this green chair the longest.  Everyone knew that it was "Grandpa's Chair" and if he came in the room, you had better move or else you would get sat on and/or tickled.
So. in honor of your birthday this past week, this one's for you, Grandpa!  I love you!

Flashback Photo Friday

Back to school...

I got the idea of a Flashback Photo Friday from my friend, Heather. I thought it would be fun to post these Kindergarten pics of me and Andy. Enjoy!
