CMB
Abric was late for school today, and I wrote "crazy morning breakdowns" under the reason in the excuse card that I had to fill out when I dropped him off this morning. Is that really a valid excuse? It might not be, but today was one of those mornings that I know I will laugh about in future years. So, for now, I'll let the school figure out where to file that excuse. And I will go about my day, continuing to make it better and better, bar any breakdowns from a certain two year old who is on the cusp of potty training.

Woes of potty training.
Isla peed her pants today.
On me.
While sitting on my lap.
Which basically means that Isla peed my pants today. I have a slight feeling that she did it on purpose. But she had just told me that she loved me. "I love you, Mommy" she said.
Maybe she was just feeling very relaxed and comfortable. Yes, let's say that.

Firsts
So many firsts are happening right now for miss Isla Jean. She is standing independently, sprinting up the stairs with super crawling power, she cruises around the furniture with ease, and has even started to take some steps. She even knows how to say 'tickle' and knows what it means. She loves to brush her hair.
Where has my little babe gone? Who is this spunky, ever-happy toddler beginning to emerge? Oh how we love and adore her. She really is the icing on the cake to our family.
Here she is discovering the garbage truck for the very first time.

9 months … and growing!
Isla had her nine month checkup today. I can't believe how fast she is growing and changing. Time always seems to fly by after the baby is born, but not when you are pregnant.
Isla weighed in at 15 lbs 7 oz. She is 26.75 inches long.
Here are some pictures of her on the scale and with me in the waiting room.

Utah Trip
My husband is the BEST! This past weekend he sent me on a trip to Utah to attend some important family events. He was such a sweetheart. We had some frequent flyer miles, so he told me to just book the ticket, take Isla, and go.
My brother Zach graduated with honors from the University of Utah. He is now an engineer….. and starts his Master's program next week. We are so proud of him.
My cousin, Janelle, got married in the Salt Lake Temple. We are so happy for her! And we are happy to welcome Robbie into the family. We Gibbs girls don't settle, so we know he has to be pretty awesome to have snatched Janelle. :)
On the many trips to Salt Lake, we drove Grandpa and Grandma Gibbs with us in the van. Isla held Grandma's hand and it helped her stop crying. Grandma then rubbed Isla's feet, which put her to sleep. (Isla is so much like her daddy! She loves to have her feet rubbed.) I love my Grandma. She is so sweet.
The reception was held outdoors and it was a bit chilly, so we went inside Robbie's parent's house. Grandma and Grandpa held Isla and snuggled with her… until she started getting fussy. It had been a busy day.
I saw my brother, Jens, at the reception. He had grown a mustache during 'March Mustache Madness.' Not only did he decide to keep his mustache, but he bought some wax to tweak up the ends for special occasions. Oh how I miss my brothers!!
On Sunday before church, we met Zach and Stacie to go see little Kaisen's grave. He is buried right next to Grandpa and Grandma Montgomery. I started bawling as soon as Mom and I drove into the cemetery. When I got out of the van, Zach said, "Why are you crying?" I am often amazed at how strong Zach and Stacie are, even though I know they have a hole in their hearts even bigger than the one in my own. We love you Kaisen and will never forget you. You and Isla are our little cousin-twins.
Monday morning, we got up bright and early to catch our flight back home. Isla was absolutely fabulous on the airplane ride home. It was great! She slept most of the time. I sat in the window seat. My 'row companions' also were very quiet, as they were sleeping off hangovers from a recent trip to Las Vegas. I was able to kick back and finish reading Mockingjay without any interruption.
Andy picked us up from the airport. Isla told him all about her Utah adventures.

Morning Nap
Isla taking her morning nap today. She'll usually eat anywhere between 6 and 7 in the morning. I will just nurse her in bed and then leave her there all snugly and warm while I go eat breakfast or get ready for the day.
Today she had her 2 month check-up. She is 9 lbs 4 oz (10th percentile) and is 22.25 inches long (35th percentile).
She has gained a whole pound since last month. She is doing such a good job eating and sleeping. She is such a sweet baby. She is also starting to smile and talk to us. It is hard to resist her twinkling, blue-gray eyes and her cheesy grins.

Two Months
Two months already! Last night she went to bed t 10, woke up at 4 to nurse, then slept til 8. She has really started to smile a lot and is very aware of who is holding her. She has been able to recognize Andy and me for a while. She can now recognize all of her big brothers and loves watching them. When they are too loud or are fighting, she gets upset and lets them know it!

Happy Day. . .
"What did you say? Grandma and Pappy Gibbs are flying here today? Hooray!"
I took this picture at the doctor's office. Isla had her one month check-up this morning and she was all smiles. She has grown like a weed! She weighs 8 lbs 4 oz and is 21 inches tall now. I'd say she has mastered nursing.
Mom and Dad are flying in later this evening. We can't wait to introduce them to little Isla!
